Growing up in Greenville SC, I remember going there with my parents, grandparents and great aunt and uncle. Very nostalgic.

Was there when i was around 10 now at 72. I remember walking down the street and seeing the gunfights! Thanks for the memories. By the way I flew a powered parachute for about 6 years. Nothing like it.

One of my last childhood family vacations was there in the late 70s. Fun place to visit. I believe i still have some photos from back then. Sad that it's in such disrepair, but time stands still for no one, and nature always reclaims.

You asked how does a park like this fail? Its because of poor business management and lack of constant maintenance and up keep. According to the Wiki for this park, it mentions both and that word got out quickly that half of the attractions were usually down and not operational. Yet despite this, full price tickets for the park were still being sold without any discount offered since usually half of the attractions were down.

I’m 62 now. But when I was a young feller, our family went to that park. Enjoyed the train ride and the wild West show. Brought back memories.

Being from the area I’m honestly surprised someone didn’t steal the wing when you took the hike and traded it for drugs lol .

Thanks for this video. Does it have a battery charging system? I suspect it does since the EFI would require voltage to keep running. But, some of the newer chainsaws use EFI and operate with voltage produced from the magneto and no battery at all.

I went there several times as a kid and was fortunate enough to take my kids the last time they opened in 2007 or 2008. It’s truly sad to see what’s happened to it but your video brought back some great memories.

Is there any chance you could do one more video on the last part of the trip. Even if you just sit in a chair and talk to the camera it would be nice to know how the last leg of the trip went.

I remember a time when the National Guard would just land in the Kmart parking lot for show and tell. Imagine if UA-cam shorts were a thing back then.

My sister said that Disney is purchasing the site and will put in a theme park with chalets, luxury hotels, ect ect. But that made my heart happy so that others can enjoy the Mountains in The Great Smokeys of Tennessee and North Carolina Thanks Mark
